Growing up in Colombo, art was a childhood passion for Nuwan Thenuwara. When he got older, he completed a four-year training program to become a qualified jewelry designer, certified by the country of Belgium, and later became a lecturer for jewelry design.
He currently works as the creative director for an advertising agency, where he does conceptualization, visualization, illustrations, graphics, final art works, photography and layout design, but he continues to pursue his childhood passion.
Nuwan Thenuwara has worked as an artist, an illustrator and art director in countries like Belgium, Singapore, Malaysia, Oman, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia. His work includes oil painting, watercolor art, illustration and portrait art, as well as pencil drawings.
He has opened his own art gallery but he also conducts seminars, workshops, and exhibitions to help shape the future of art in Sri Lanka.
